Welcome to 3D1D!

From October 6 to 9, 2009, I embarked on an intense adventure to write my next novel Typhoon in three days. It was awesome.

I worked from 6AM on October 6 until 8PM on October 8, minus some sleeping breaks and other life hurdles. In that time, I wrote 51 chapters, at about 1,000 words each.

At this point, I would like to remind you that I don't drink caffeine. When you're done screaming, please resume.

Every hour, I posted a series of questions on Twitter, and watched as hundreds of responses came flooding back. I integrated the answers into the next hour's chapter, creating a living, breathing work of fiction. The Twitter streams are recorded on the sidebar so you can see how it worked.

You can still buy ad space on each chapter if you like. I'll be leaving this site up indefinitely, so have a blast. One banner for each hour, permanently attached to the chapter. The price for the banners will change over time. Hour 1's banner is $1. Hour 10's is $10. Hour 30's is $30. You get the idea. Banners should be 889px wide by 125px high.

#3D1D was a grand experiment. It hurt a lot, but it was a revelation for me. This is more than performance art, this is a totally different kind of writing. It was my honour to play the game with you all, and I hope you'll enjoy the results.

About Typhoon

Kani isn't Tundra. Her friend, Stacey, has gotten mixed up with the wrong people, flying dangerous and illegal "dustrunner" sorties for the mob... and since Stacey's out of commission, Kani's forced to take her place. As Kani soon discovers, in this world of asteroid piracy, the real threat is on the ground: violence and paranoia come at her from every side.

But after her first nail-biting mission ends, she starts to realize there's someone else on her team that isn't who they say they are... and the truth may threaten the lives of everyone she knows!
